Certification and Licensure Programs

The National Guard helps Soldiers leverage their military training in the civilian world through credentialing. By obtaining licensure or certification, Soldiers can show that they've acquired the professional skills and technical standards required in their chosen profession. Common licensures/certifications include:

  • Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • EMT/Paramedic
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Soldiers may visit the Army COOL website for a list of certifications related to their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

FUNDING
The National Guard may reimburse the cost of a certification or licensure exam. Contact your state Education Services Officer (ESO) for a complete list of eligible licensures and certifications and for further information regarding the reimbursement process.

Current Guard Soldiers can get more information on education programs by contacting their state's Education Services Officer.
