Prior Service Enlistment Bonus

PRIOR SERVICE ENLISTMENT BONUS
Applicants with prior military service may be eligible for the Prior Service Enlistment Bonus (PSEB). To qualify, you'll need to enlist into a specified Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Contact your local Army National Guard recruiter to find out which positions are currently available in your state.

ELIGIBILITY
Prior Service (PS) applicants must meet the following general eligibility criteria to qualify for a PSEB:

• You must enlist in a designated MOS in the grade of E-7 or below, with a valid vacancy. Most units are eligible, but not all. Check with a recruiter in your area for more details.
• You must have previously completed Army or Marine Corps basic training. All PS United States Air Force (USAF), United States Navy (USN), or United States Coast Guard (USCG) DMOSQ recipients must attend Army Basic Combat Training (BCT) within 365 days of their enlistment dates, with an exception authorized to PS USAF Security Force and USN Special Operations personnel. The Soldier will not be paid his or her initial payment until completion of BCT. The PSEB will be terminated if the Soldier does not graduate BCT within 12 months from the date of enlistment.
• You must be DMOSQ within 24 months of the date of enlistment.
• You must have received an honorable discharge or an honorable release at the conclusion of all prior periods of military service. A general under honorable discharge for any period of service is ineligible for this incentive. Exceptions are authorized to Soldiers completing Initial Active Duty Training with an uncharacterized discharge.
• You must not be separated from active service or being released from active service for the purpose of enlistment in a reserve component.
• You must have less than 16 years of time in service (TIS) upon enlistment in the ARNG.
• You must meet requirements of current National Guard enlistment criteria.
• You must enlist for a minimum of 6 years if Non-DMOSQ.
• You must not have previously received the PSEB.
• If your last discharge was from the ARNG or the United States Army Reserve (USAR), and were fully eligible to complete a reenlistment/extension and are within 365 days of that discharge date, you are not eligible for the PSEB.

Soldiers enlisting for Special Forces must be MOSQ at time of enlistment to qualify for an incentive.

AMOUNT
The PSEB is a part of the Army National Guard Selected Reserve Incentive Program. A qualifying Prior Service Soldier can receive a bonus amount of up to $20,000 for enlisting into designated skill positions. To determine your eligibility, ask your recruiter for more details.

PSEB Options

• 3-Year DMOSQ ($5,000)
• 6-Year DMOSQ ($20,000)
• 6-Year Non-DMOSQ ($7,500)

The PSEB incentive is paid as defined below:

3-Year DMOSQ: Lump sum payment upon reporting to unit of assignment and recorded in GIMS (Guard Incentive Management System).

6-year DMOSQ/Non-DMOSQ: Paid in 2 installments.

Installment 1: 50% processed upon reporting DMOSQ to unit of assignment and recorded in GIMS.
Installment 2: 50% processed upon 4th year anniversary calculated by date of enlistment.
