The Occupational Physical Assessment Test will be the first physical test you will take as a recruit. The OPAT determines your level of fitness to qualify for certain jobs, or military occupational specialties (MOSs), as they're known in the Guard. The test is gender-neutral and consists of four events: Standing Long Jump, Strength Deadlift, Seated Power Throw and Interval Aerobic Run.
Together with the ASVAB, your performance on the OPAT means that the better you score, the more jobs will be available to you. Results fall into four categories: Heavy (black), Significant (gray), Moderate (gold) and Unqualified (white).
