The Army Fitness Test (AFT) is designed to reflect the physical demands placed on today's Soldiers. Replacing the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), the AFT became the official test of record across all units as of June 2025, following its successful implementation during Basic Combat Training.
With the introduction of the AFT, Guard Soldiers now complete a test that aligns with modern combat readiness, emphasizes injury prevention, and supports both physical and mental resilience—standards essential for mission-ready warriors.
The AFT evaluates a Soldier's ability to perform critical physical tasks through five key events: the Three-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Hand-Release Push-Up with Arm Extension, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, and Two-Mile Run. Select each event to view instructional videos and review current performance standards.
