311A Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agent

JOB DUTIES

  • Investigate felonies and other significant crimes of National Guard interest, as defined by regulation, military and federal law
  • Plan, organize, conduct and supervise overt and covert investigations
  • Examine and process crime scenes
  • Collect, preserve and evaluate physical evidence for scientific examination by crime laboratories and use in judicial proceedings
  • Obtain and execute arrest and search warrants
  • Conduct raids and task force operations
  • Interview and interrogate victims, witnesses, suspects and subjects, and obtain written statements executed under oath
  • Develop, evaluate and manage informants and other sources of criminal intelligence
  • Represent the Guard's interest in investigations conducted collaterally with the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, and other federal, state and local investigative agencies
  • Maintain close working relationships with attorneys of the Staff Judge Advocate and the United States Attorney's Office, and testify at courts-martial, federal district court and other judiciary tribunals
  • Write, review and approve technical investigative reports
  • Conduct and supervise technical surveys of Guard elements and activities that analyze and detect ongoing crime, and recommend actions to prevent crime that could result in significant economic loss and reduced combat effectiveness
  • Conduct personnel security vulnerability assessments for designated senior Guard officials
  • Provide personal security for designated Department of Defense (DoD) executives, visiting foreign officials and other key officials
  • Perform hostage negotiations


MINIMUM PREREQUISITES

  • Be a Sergeant (E-5) or above serving in Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 31D
  • Have two years' criminal investigative experience with United States Army Criminal Investigations Command (USACIDC) (non-waiverable for enlisted Army personnel); will consider accreditation from other services such as Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), etc.
  • Have demonstrated potential for successful performance under minimal supervision as a team chief, special agent-in-charge or operations officer
  • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; degree requirement may be waived to 60 semester hours by CID command, assuming applicant is otherwise qualified
  • Have a Top Secret clearance based on a single scope background investigation (SSBI)
  • Have management abilities and good communication skills
