Military Training

Basic Training

What it is: 

Basic Combat Training is where you learn all the entry-level soldiering skills you need to be a member of an Army National Guard unit. Your drill sergeants will put you under stress and teach you how to perform in difficult environments, all while mentoring you during the start of your Army career.

What you'll do: 
  • Learn how to use an M4 rifle
  • Learn general Army knowledge, like ranks and proper wear of the uniform
  • Perform physical training, including running, push-ups and sit-ups
  • Learn how to perform in stressful environments
  • Develop positive habits both personally and professionally
How to prepare: 

Your attitude throughout Basic Combat Training is key, so practice having a positive one. Be physically fit the day you ship out. Show up knowing that you're taking a positive step for your future, and be willing to put in some hard work to make that step successful.

Things you'll need: 

Your recruiter will give you a packing list of things that you should take with you to Basic Training, including toiletries and just one change of clothes.
