What it is: 

You'll sign your Guard contract at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). While there, you will also get a full medical examination and meet with a career counselor to pick your Guard career. You'll also participate in a small ceremony called the Oath of Enlistment (family is welcome to attend).

What you'll do: 
  • Take a full medical examination
  • Pick your Guard job with a career counselor
  • Sign your Guard contract
  • Complete an Oath of Enlistment ceremony
How to prepare: 

Your recruiter will let you know what documents you need to bring with you to MEPS. After you've finished this huge step toward your future, you're committed to serving in the National Guard.

  • Documentation for any important medical history
  • Any paperwork your recruiter asks you to bring
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
  • Driver's license

Don't bring any personal items like headphones or iPods
